A Passionist ... Pentathlon??

Someone even made up a fancy announcement poster!

This year, Mother John Mary delighted us all by calling a full Gaudeamus day for Labor Day! We grilled out, played lawn games, and enjoyed one another’s company — but one event was the center of particular excitement: the first annual PASSIONIST PENTATHLON!

This five-part race (the brainchild of Sr. Bethany Marie) involved a variety of activities that could be enjoyed by both athletic and less-athletic community members: cycling, running, speed-walking, Pictionary, and a clothespin dropping game (trying to get it into the jar!). Our community of 18 split very nicely into three teams, distinguished by different colors of stylish “headbands” gleaned from old ribbon in the sacristy. Different team members each took a “leg” of the race, and the team to complete all five events first was declared the winner!

After an intense 15 minutes or so, it was all over — but there was a general consensus that we need to make this race an annual tradition. Enjoy some pictures of the action! And of course, we can’t leave you without images from the rest of the day …
