Construction Update!

Dear blog followers — we wanted to bring you all up to speed on the progress of our cloister walkway construction!

The footers are now complete, along with the concrete floor for the loggia (enclosed passageway that will connect the current building with the Holy Family Wing). It was fascinating to watch the surprisingly complex process of forming the footers for the pillars — all of the nuns now have a new appreciation for the skill it takes to lay a good foundation! Behind the scenes, our architect and general contractor are working on the “footer release” for the Holy Family Wing. They hope to finish the foundation for the wing before wet winter weather sets in!

Some demolition work is also finished, clearing bricks from the existing wall so that the walkway roof can connect. Most excitingly, the steel “skeleton” for the archways was installed a few weeks ago, giving us a clearer picture of what the finished product will look like. It is thrilling to see our dream taking shape before our eyes, and we are beyond grateful to all those who continue to make this project possible by their time, talent, treasure, and prayers!
