O Wisdom, O holy Word of God, you govern all creation with your strong yet tender care. Come and show your people the way to salvation.
— O Antiphon for Dec. 17
dec-17-o-antiphon.jpg

Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in piercing cold.
In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.

Our Novena readings are excerpts from the Christmas letters of St. Paul of the Cross.

I desire that your heart be the crib of the gentle Infant so that he may be born there mystically; and that will happen if you will be faithful, as I hope, in keeping yourself hidden in interior solitude, sleeping like the Infant on the Cross and making all your afflictions die in the fire of divine charity with a true, silent, and total abandonment to the Will of God.

I am praying the Sovereign Divine Infant and the Divine Immaculate Mother to have you reborn to a new life of holy love. This Divine Birth will take place in the interior temple of your soul if you continue, as I hope, to be faithful to God, a lover of virtue, with a continual exercise of humility of heart, patience, silence, meekness, most fervent charity, and, above all, remaining solitary in the holy desert of your soul, taking your rest on the bosom of God in a sacred silence of faith and holy love.
