With You - A Poem of a Contemplative
With You
The seconds of the day
fall on me
weighted with a word
which proclaims mystery
that is love.
I am simply listening.
My living becomes response,
making of conversation—
point of meeting,
junction,
with the Life
in whom I live.
And the Word becomes flesh
every morning upon our altars.
And the Word takes up our flesh
as we commune with Him.
And He says only silence.
And He looks small and plain as bread.
And He does not ask to be seen,
while He is here.
And this is the word He says:
‘God is here with you.’
