Ringing in the New Year - Monastic Style
Blessed New Year's Eve and Holy 7th Day of Christmas!
Tonight we will ring in the New Year with an "Hour of Watching", that is, an hour of Eucharistic Adoration. Beginning at 11:30 we will have a silent 30 minutes of prayer. At midnight, as the bell tolls and 2016 is born, we will chant the Office of Readings for tomorrow's solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, ending with the glorious Te Deum in thanksgiving to God for so many blessings he has abundantly poured out upon us.
An additional joy this year, like last year, is that the families and friends of the sisters who live at a distance are here visiting. Here is a photo, kindness of Abe Wenke, taken a year ago tonight of the birth of 2015. (Notice his Total Consecration to Jesus thru Mary chain bracelet!)
