Blessed Solemnity of St. Joseph!

Good St. Joseph,

hidden when you lived on earth, unknown but by Jesus and Mary, now you are cherished for all times by all peoples.

It is so simple to turn to you as our brother, for we know you experienced those things that are part of the light and shadow of our lives.

Joseph, you are brother - as friend to whom we speak in times of darkness and uncertainty … as model to whom we turn for inspiration when tempted and discouraged … as guide who will support our faith and fidelity in our faltering steps as disciples of Jesus.

Bring to the Heart of this Jesus the great burdens of the entire family of God. Hide in that undivided Heart both the universal wounds and divisions, and those of each brother and sister. And from that Heart’s flame, light our flickering lamps of trust and hope. Still our hearts in prayer, that we too may hear those words which dispelled your anxiety: “fear not.”
