Welcome, Josie!!

Our newest postulant is a bit furrier than any we’ve ever had before …

She’s also quite a bit younger - is there something in Canon Law about 5-month-olds entering the monastery?

But she came already dressed in her postulant black-and-white, and we feel that we can be fairly confident about her vocation …

If you somehow haven’t guessed already, our new “postulant” is actually a KITTEN! On Gaudete Sunday, our rejoicing was augmented when this little kitty came to her new home at St. Joseph’s Monastery. After a long debate, we finally settled on a name for our newest member: Josie, in honor of good St. Joseph! She has already proven herself a real “cuddle bug” who loves to be around people, and her antics have enlivened recreation and sparked lots of laughter from the community.

With 13 nuns doting on her, it’s a foregone conclusion that little Josie will be rather spoiled - but she’ll be earning her keep, too! We hope that this feline addition to our monastery will be an effective deterrent to garden-ruining chipmunks and other pesky critters that come with living out in the country. We all have to do our work around the monastery, after all …

Enjoy a few snapshots of our newest “community member”!

Praise and exalt Him above all forever!
